Valve-preserving surgery
of the proximal aorta
Refining surgery
The slides show artificial mechanical valves, followed by new method preserving original valves if they are in good condition. Ergo no need for lifelong treatment with anticoagulants.
Part of aorta is replaced with synthetic graft.
The method developed by Tirone E. David MD, Toronto General Hospital, was modified by Chief Physician Jan Liska, MD, and Professor Anders Franco-Cereceda MD, PhD, Department of Thoracic Surgery, Stockholm.
